Daisy Dukes White Top on Top
Name: Daisy
College: Revelle
Major: Psychology
Spotted At: Goody's Place and Market
Outfit:
Brown sugar brown jacket: "I almost got nothing here, I got this jacket in Korea."
Button Down Top: Korea
Short shorts: Urban Oufitters
Sheer Tights: Forever 21
Zig Zag Bag: Metro Park
Fringe Binge Shoes: Wild Pear
Q: How would you describe your fashion?
A: Really girly! I usually wear subdued colors, flowy clothes and comfy clothes. I try to wear plain tops with lots of accessories. But I really like prints as well.
Q: What is your favorite piece you are wearing?
A: My white top. I like that it works with so many different kinds of outfits.
Miss Daisy's outfit is "grade A" fashion. With her comfy jacket matching her shoes and ease of mobility of the outfit, nobody could have done it better. Her purse may be zig-zaged out, but her simple outfit allows her to wear the bag tactfully without hurting your eyes with crazy patterns.
Suggestion: Daisy couldn't be more right. A white top is such a versatile, must-have item in your closet. You can change it's look by wearing a belt, or putting on wildly colorful jewelry.

The Bold House
At the New York Fashion Show, House of Holland proved to be one of the most memorable collections, marked by vibrant colors and truly unique patterns. Drawing from the '70s, Henry Hollandsuccessfully orchestrated a show that left spectators in awe. His inspiration and creativity was impeccably reflected in his eccentric designs and patterns. Holland made the banana leaf large and bold on both tailored pastel jacquards and vivid green printed jerseys. Another recurrent trend present in his show was the use of fringe. Overall, this show effectively excited and interested all viewers.

UCSD's Best Dressed: These Boots are Made for Walkin'
Name: Tiffany (Girls with this name must be naturally fashionable. Last weeks best dressed was named Tiffany too!)
Major: Bio-Chemistry
College: ERC
Year: 2nd
Spotted: Outside Solis Hall
Q: Do you get your fashion inspiration from anywhere in particular?
A: I read a lot of magazines but editorials are usually pretty out-there. You can't really wear that stuff in real life. So I guess I try to see if there is a certain style they are kind of going for. But usually if I am just out shopping I will see things I like and then take them home and try to put them together.
Sequined grey scarf: Bloomingdales
Super awesome boots: Ugg Australia
Striped sweater: Martin+Osa (a former branch of American Eagle that is no longer in business)
Dress/tunic: Forever 21
Silver buckle belt: Urban Outfitters
Tiffany's outfit caught my eye right away. Her boots which you can find here at Nordstrom are extremely eye catching. Surprisingly, they are made by Ugg, which can normally associated with comfort, not fashion. But who is to say you can't have both? She did an amazing job pairing her boots with a simple black tunic and cardigan. A similar long cardigan can be found at American Eagle. The blue stripes on Tiffany's cardigan add just a hint of color. This is perfect as because as the color getts added in, Spring slowly does too! A solid colored cardigan can achieve the same effect too. The belt she added is adorable and the perfect accent to the rest of her outfit. It makes the whole look seem very put together. The scarf and tights kept her warm and looked great. Onnce Spring officially gets here, all she has to do is store them in her closet and the rest of her outfit is warm-weather ready!

Project Ethos: Fashion Extravaganza
Project Ethos is a fashion and art show extravaganza that took place at FluxxNightclub in downtown San Diego near the Gaslamp Quarter. Although Fluxx has developed a reputation as a cool dancing and drinking spot for the young adult crowd, everything changed for a day on February 25th. Project Ethos totally transformed the atmosphere from a run-of-the-mill Friday night club spot into a sophisticated and fun fashion experience. With seven designers featured on the catwalk and four artists exhibiting their work at the event, a red carpet entrance, and a heart-throbbing, feet-moving performance by rap artist MANN with his hit “Buzzin” featuring 50 Cent, Project Ethos is poised to become a San Diego fashion tradition that will only get grander and greater with each passing year.
The fashion show opened with ballerinas dressed in black. They entered from each side of the stage on delicate tiptoe, dancing and swaying to Kanye West’s “Dark Fantasy”. This tune was used throughout the show, with its inspiring refrain playing between each runway transition, giving chills to the audience as they awaited each new designer.
But at the end of the night, the main stars of this show were the clothing lines. Common themes for this year’s designers were bright colors, Spanish-styled sleeves and multiple-role clothing, such as the Cardiwrap byKymaro®. As one of the main sponsors of the show, Fredrick’s of Hollywood held a special exhibition of their sexy summer swimwear, showing us the bright colors and bold patterns we can look forward to wearing as we hit the beach in this upcoming bikini season.

InSPRINGation
With spring coming up, one needs to start dressing for the weather and the perfect way to do that is by wearing florals! To transition from fall/winter into spring, you can wear a floral dress but of course you don't want your florals to be too bold so by pairing it with a blazer and some nice vintage oxfords it can even out the bright colors. Spring and florals are all about happy colors but sometimes it can be too happy and obnoxious. And by finding the right accessories, you can create a great outfit that perfectly emulates the transition from fall/winter into spring!

Country Chic
Dolce and Gabbana brought the runway to a party in the garden during the Milan Fashion Week for spring 2011. The Italian duo brought a sense of nostalgia and set the mood as happy summer. The use of floral designs was pervasive - on dresses, platform shoes, hair accessories, etc. The collection was less of a prim and proper garden-party style and more of a peasant farm girl style, as evidenced through the use of gingham and pocketed aprons. Overall this collection showed a new perspective on country chic, characterized by the trademark spring season design - floral and a nostalgic addition - gingham.
